About

The Coding Lab is an artistically and theoretically oriented workspace that engages with software- and hardware-based media technologies in the context of art and design. At its core are thematically and project-based formats in which computer-based technologies are explored as an aesthetic, material, and cultural field.

Topics

The Lab approaches the creation of custom software tools (Toolmaking), electronic devices (Device Art), and settings—for example, interactive light installations—as an independent artistic practice. Tools and systems are not understood merely as means of production, but as performative systems that shape perception, agency, and aesthetic decisions.

Formats

Work is primarily conducted through courses, workshops, and collaborations with departments and study programs. Individual guidance is provided mainly in the context of final projects or within the framework of the respective semester themes.
